AR Tower

Bijoy Nagar is part of the westward expansion of Dhaka’s first commercial district in the south of the city. The old glory of the once vibrant exclusive district has faded over the years. Today it is a very densely populated, extremely mixed residential neighborhood. MTA designed the AR Tower as an eight-story office building, which, with its glass and brick façade, is intended to add new dynamism to the area and contribute positive impact on the urban fabric. Horizontal solar shading and diagonal louvers allow for shadow play throughout the day and reduce heat gain through movable glass openings that allow for natural ventilation of the building. The project is one of several projects by MTA that are responsive to the subtropical climate and find an architectural language for multi-story buildings uniquely suited to the place.
